The walkway below is made with the Winter Blend, Keystone Venetian antiqued four piece random pattern that consists of 6x6, 6x9, 6x12, 12x12 units. The three photos are of the finished project. The first thing we do is set up string lines for grade and walkway layout. We excavate down 6" and compact the ground with a jumping jack, so we have a solid foundation to start the walkway. All unwanted dirt is removed from the property. We bring in about 4" of road base and compact with a plate compactor. This prep process is the key to building a walkway that will last. About 1" of leveling sand is placed over the road base. The pavers are placed on the leveling sand in the selected pattern and paver cuts are made to fit the pattern or paver area dimensions. We also install paver edging that provides strength to keep in the end pavers in place. The step shown in the photo below has a concrete base with reinforced rebar, and the pavers are mortar set onto the concrete. The final step is to put the poly sand deep into the joints using a plate compactor, so that, the pavers are glued together that prevents weeds and water from getting under the pavers.
